From August 31st to September 1st, the COURB Institute participated in the first edition of the Cities for Life Global Meeting, held in the city of Medellin in Colombia. The event brought together representatives of governments, researchers, planners and professionals from different areas and different cities in the world with the purpose of sharing experiences and knowledge about how we can solve the challenges of our cities. The event had sessions of co-creation in six themes: Urban Mobility, Environment, Social Development, Security, Governance, Planning and Urban Design. In these sessions, participants discussed the challenges of the subject and made a document with recommendations, to be delivered to Habitat III.
The COURB, represented by the Director of Projects Mariana Morais, participated in the session of co-creation of Social Development, held among experts: Oriol Julià – Consultant from UN-Habitat, Jeff Merritt – Innovation Manager of New York, Domenico di Siena – founder of CivicWise and Urbano Humano, Marina Klemensiewic – Secretary of Habitat of the City of Buenos Aires, Paul Howard – Director of Community Solution. In the workshops, the groups followed a methodology of open innovation divided into three steps: inspiration, problems collaborative processing and creating recommendations.
